A small thank-you

We can’t forget our first customer.

Every product has a first leap of faith. Ours came from a 40-year-old bakery on the other side of the country — the one that picked up our call, listened to a pitch about a half-built dashboard, and said, “okay, let’s try it.”

This page is for them.

How a 40-year-old bakery joined the cloud

“xcoms gave our 40-year-old bakery a brand-new operating rhythm.”

When we started Anumod Bakery in Port Blair in 1983, we tracked every cake on a paper register. By 2024 we were juggling counter orders, WhatsApp messages from across the islands, and a kitchen that never quite knew what to bake first. xcoms put all of it in one place. Our counter staff now closes an order in under a minute, our regulars order from WhatsApp with a single “hi”, and our online cake shop quietly takes orders while the shutters are down.

— The Anumod Bakery team, Port Blair

  • Counter check-out time dropped from ~3 minutes to under a minute.
  • WhatsApp catalog took over routine orders so staff could focus on premium cakes.
  • Online storefront at anumodbakery.shop turned the bakery into a 24/7 business.

Why their bet mattered.

In early 2024, xcoms was a working prototype with a long list of rough edges. We had no other customers, no testimonials, no scale, no “trusted by 100+ brands” banner to point at. What we had was a conviction that bakeries deserved software that understood flavours, weights, eggless toggles, and pickup slots — not a generic POS retrofitted with a cake category.

The Anumod Bakery team chose to back that conviction. They moved their counter, their kitchen queue, their WhatsApp orders, and eventually their online cake shop onto xcoms — while we were still finding our feet. They sent us bug reports at 11 PM and feature requests at 6 AM. They told us exactly what bakery owners need from software, in plain Malayalam and English.

Every feature on xcoms today — the WhatsApp catalog, the eggless toggle per item, the Saturday-rush kitchen queue, the storefront with custom domain support — carries fingerprints from the Anumod team’s feedback.

“Thank you for trusting a prototype. xcoms wouldn’t exist in the shape it does today if you hadn’t said yes that morning.”

— The xcoms team, XSpine Tech
